The Loneliness of Leadership
Big Red Car here. Going to be a very nice day in the ATX. What a Sunday.
Did you see that moon? Supposedly the largest and brightest moon in a long, long, long time.

Big Red Car here. Hey, it’s raining early this morning in the ATX. Well, we like a bit of rain. Seems like a nice gentle rain falling on our homes and fields and Big Red Cars because I am parked on the freakin’ street, Boss.
OK, OK, I know that I am supposed to keep my place in all things and I will not start trouble but a bit of garage time would be greatly appreciated.
Big Red Car here. Bit cloudy yesterday but today promises to be clear and hot. Oh boy! Just the right weather for a bit of top down driving, eh?
So we have been chatting about the C Level Employment Agreement, breaking it down into its constituent parts and we’ve been chatting about compensation.
Big Red Car here. Rainy and gloomy and an altogether typical late May day. The ATX gets a lot of its rain during the end of May and then we settle in for the long, hot, dry journey through June to August and finally to September and the start of Longhorn football. Go Horns!
On the eave of Memorial Day, when America celebrates the sacrifice of its war dead who have given the last measure of devotion so that we may live in liberty with freedom, we think about those who have served in the military and who fought America’s wars.
Big Red Care here. What a day in the ATX. Beautiful, sunny, dry and cool but just wait until that sun get high and it will be warm. On Earth as it is in Texas, ya’ll.
So The Boss hates it when I write about political stuff but sometimes it has to be done. Sorry, Boss.
Big Red Car here. Looks like another great day in paradise. On Earth as it is in Texas!
The Boss was shaking his head on the way back from coffee this morning. [Hey, I was driving. I was out early with the top down and the wind on my nose and I was loving life in the ATX.]
Big Red Car here. Cool night and The Boss is up early this morning. He loves a Saturday morning. Pancakes and bacon, perhaps? Bit of fresh 10W30, please pass the clean air filter? Haha, Big Red Car, you crack yourself up.
So The Boss was musing about the “tapestry of business” — all the individual threads that must be woven together to make a coherent whole. It is a structural notion that requires a strong core, a stout wearing surface and a lovely pattern. It has to be strong, wear well and turn a pretty face to the public. Most importantly, it has to be real and authentic.
Big Red Car here. Slow start today but looks like it will still be a nice day. Going for a ride up to the Georgetown Airport this afternoon to do a bit of airplane stuff.
The Boss was up early and was talking to one of his CEOs on the subject of benefits and more particularly the “right attitude” toward sick leave.
