Valley Forge — a Primer in Crisis Management for the Startup CEO

Big Red Car here.  Oh boy, it’s going to be 75F and sunny here in the ATX today.  Oh boy!  [Hey, Big Red Car, STFU because other folks live in places like Chicago and it’s wicked cold there.  Actually it’s going to be quite nice in Chicago today.]

So The Boss is still in Steamboat Springs skiing.  It snowed like mad yesterday and last night.  Probably got more than a foot of fresh powder.  They were out grooming it all night long.

Well, The Boss has been reading all about George Washington (for about the fifth time that the Big Red Car is aware of) and is reading Douglas Southall Freeman’s seven volume history of Washington for at least the second time.

Freeman is the author of the definitive works on Washington and Robert E Lee.

So you probably watched a bit of college football yesterday, no?  The Boss loves college football and is often mumbling that college football is very much like the startup business.  [I think he’s just trying to justify how damn much college football he’s been watching lately.  Bowl games, yeah!]

Achieving Work Life Balance in a Startup, You CAN Do It

Big Red Car here.  Crisp cool morning in the ATX.  It’s 45F looking for 75F later today.  Ahh, on Earth as it is in Texas, ya’ll.  Perhaps in Heaven as it is in Texas?

So, The Boss is talking to one of his brilliant CEOs and the CEO laments the difficulty of achieving balance in his life and work.  It is a common refrain and The Boss has heard it before and will hear it again, I am sure.  This is not a unique problem.

Taking Advice

Big Red Car here.  Going to be a great day.  Me and The Boss have already been for a good swim.  I let The Boss swim while I keep an eye on things.

This morning, clear and when The Boss looked out his office window, there was the UT Tower shining bright in the before dawn light.
