Dick’s and Guns

Big Red Car here on a lovely Texas SXSW day. Oh, how cute. You didn’t know 250,000 tech Illuminati had invaded Austin? Well, yes, they did.

So, to the topic. Guns and Dick’s. Dick’s and guns?

After the recent tragedy in Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Dick’s decided to raise its age to purchase all weapons to twenty-one even though Federal law allowed one to buy a long rifle at age eighteen.

Obviously, someone at Dick’s — a corporate Dick, perhaps — anticipated there might be a reaction for to every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In this case, the Devil is in the details.

Breakthrough Diplomacy

Breakthrough diplomacy, Big Red Car? Huh?

Big Red Car here on a lovely Monday in Spring. Haha, it’s Spring in Texas. One more week and the azaleas will be here. They are already out in Savannah.

The Big Red Car is encouraged by the situation with North Korea which got me thinking about the nature of breakthrough diplomacy – when a President or politician snatches victory from the jaws of defeat.

Reading, what king of reading for a CEO?

Big Red Car here talking only to CEOs, founders, entrepreneurs and innocent bystanders.

Teacher Handgun Training

Teacher handgun training, Big Red Car?

Big Red Car here on a gloomy, sticky 72F and gray day in the ATX. The tragedy of Parkland is still with us and making us contemplate good and bad ideas in the heat of the moment. Never a good idea to make decisions  in the heat of the moment, but that is where we are.

Big question to consider. Should we arm teachers?

Mueller and the Russians – Huge Head Fake?

Did you say Russians, Big Red Car?

Big Red Car here enjoying the memory of Presidents Lincoln and Washington. Ahh, on Earth as it is in Texas.

I have been trying to stay away from the Russian – Trump collusion dialogue for a while, but the huuuuuuuuuge Mueller Russian indictment has me scratching my head.

Let me share a few thoughts with you, may I?

This guy, Vladimir Putin, is a former KGB guy. He runs Russia. He is a prick and a butcher.

George Washington and America

Big Red Car here on a slightly gloomy President’s Day in the ATX. Ahh, it is still sweet. You can just begin to see the advent of spring.

So, today is President’s Day and one of the Presidents being honored is George Washington, our first President and Father of our Country.

With the passage of time, it becomes more and more evident what an extraordinary man he was and what extraordinary work he did. [Can you name a single politician today who could hold this guy’s horse? I can’t.]

Colorado Marijuana Five Years In

Big Red Car here with some interesting facts on marijuana — legal in Colorado. Colorado now has five years of experience with the legalization and commercialization of marijuana.

Colorado did not just “de-criminalize” the possession of marijuana; it provided an opportunity for the commercialization of marijuana in the form of growers, distributors, and retailers.

There is a difference between de-criminalizing and commercialization, but what do the results tell us five year in?
