Taxing Anything Good — the Democrats or Just President Obama?

Big Red Car here in the sunny ATX but it is a little chilly. Will be 65F this afternoon from a low of 35F this morning. That is a Texas winter. An idea we can all get behind, no?

So, have you seen the President’s proposed tax on the low price of oil? That will warm you on a cold morning.

Haha, you didn’t think that taxing rascal was going to let you keep that bit of declining gas price lagniappe, did you?

“If You Like Your Guns, You Can Keep Your Guns” — Said President Obama NEVER

Big Red Car here. Going to be 70F and it’s foggy this morning. Foggy! Sort of like the debate about guns?

So, the President has gone full court press on gun control. Yawn!

Big speech replete with emoticons and crying. Town hall with Anderson Cooper and hand picked audience with pre-approved questions. Democracy in action! Well, a certain bastardized form of democracy.

People forget that the President himself is a big shooting enthusiast, right? Here he is “doing skeet”! Stud! [Am I the only one who wants to scream, “Get that butt down into your shoulder, Mr. President!”

The Obama Doctrine or the Easter Bunny Approach to Foreign Policy

So I was talking to a little Mercedes Benz convertible yesterday over near Medici, The Boss’s sometimes favorite coffee shop over on West Lynn.

Houston, We’ve Got a Problem — Iran is Getting a Bomb!

Big Red Car here. Bright, sunny and crisp today. This is what we call winter in the ATX. We like winter — all three days of it. 70F on Sunday.

So, the administration has begun to “leak” out that the Iran deal is going to end up with Iran getting an invite to the nuclear bomb club. Oh boy!

Raising Taxes, A Presidential Thing

Big Red Car here in the ATX which is enjoying some convertible weather. I am headed out to the Hill Country this afternoon and why not?

Folks up north, please don’t hate me — the azaleas will be blooming in about five weeks here in Texas. Always coincides with Spring Break.

So The Boss has been digging into the issue of taxes. Taxes are an important consideration for those in the startup business as they hope to ultimately monetize their work and investment. In the course of doing this they will likely be subject to capital gains. Not a bad thing. Continue reading →

The Scold in Chief and Ineffective Leadership

Big Red Car here. Weather getting better in the ATX. Things in the world, however, are not getting better.

Pure evil conveys a great luxury on those who are forces for good. Its purity is so virulent and undiluted that a thinking man does not have to engage in subtle thought to fashion a plan or to justify action. It broadcasts a call to action that is unequivocal. It screams out for a grave and to be laid in that grave.

Nazis, ISIS — so evil that the reaction is instinctive, pure and obvious.
