The INSURRECTION

About a year ago, the US experienced an INSURRECTION, right?

An insurrection is a riot, revolt, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or a government.

Did the events of 6 January 2020 constitute an insurrection? It depends upon whom you ask.

If you ask the Biden admin or Dem politicians it was an assault upon the very foundation of the republic — equal to Pearl Harbor or 9-11 — but if you ask others, it was far tamer than Summer of Love riots.

So, why is it such a big deal, Big Red Car?

The reason, dear reader, has to do with Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Wait, what, Big Red Car?

Yes, dear reader, if the 6 January Committee were to find that  the events of 6 January 2020 did, in fact, constitute an insurrection and that former President Donald J Trump had “given aid or comfort” to the insurrectionists, he would arguably be disqualified from seeking election to the Presidency.

That is what all the malarkey is about.

The brain trust of the insurrection negotiating with the Capitol Police. Can’t you just feel the threat to the Republic? Sends shivers up my spine. You?

This, of course, like the two unsuccessful attempts by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to impeach then sitting President Donald J Trump, is all about ensuring that Donald J Trump is not elected once again to the presidency.

 1. The 6 January  2020 Insurrection Committee is, like the two attempts to impeach President Trump, a sham. It is a put up job in which Speaker Pelosi pretended to create a bi-partisan committee to “investigate” the Insurrection.

Bit cynical, I admit, but I think I know what the report will say. You?

 2. While the Disqualification Clause of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution is fairly clear what is not clear is what is necessary to declare former President Trump an insurrectionist or an aider and/or abettor of insurrectionists.

Nobody really thinks that an Amendment to the US Constitution intended to apply to former Confederate officers from the Civil War is going to be applied in a similar manner today.

 3. Legal scholars opine that it will take something more definitive than a declaration from a political partisan committee run by Nancy Pelosi, but others are hoping it simply dirties former President Trump up enough to ensure he isn’t either the future  nominee of the Republican primary or the victor of the general election in 2024.

This is an admission that nobody in the Biden camp thinks Joe can beat Donald J Trump in a fair, non-COVID election, and a wholesale repudiation of the Biden record of governance.

We will get a preview in the mid-term elections in just 10 months.

Bottom line it, Big Red Car

Dear reader, it’s impossible for the Dems (MSM and social media) to get Donald J Trump out of their minds. Impossible.

The old boy has been gone for a year, but the Dems are fearful that he will re-emerge and win the presidency yet again, so we have the Insurrection Committee pretending to conduct an investigation to declare former President Trump an aider and abettor of insurrectionists and thereby to disqualify him to seek another term as President.

While not too much has been said to date about the Disqualification Clause of the US Constitution, expect to start hearing more about it when the Insurrection Committee throws its cards on the table and finds that it was all Trump’s fault.

You have been warned.

But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.

“This could work, right? I sure don’t want to run against that Trump guy again.”
