Reading, Big Red Car?
Big Red Car here on a coolish, slightly sunny morning in the ATX. The sun is late on station this morning.
I have been reading the Ron Chernow book on Grant.

Let’s talk reputation, shall we?
Big Red Car here on a dark and lonely Thursday morning. Hope you are well.
So, today, we talk about Uber’s latest attempts to rebuild its pathetic reputation.
Unless you have been summering over at the South Pole, you know that Uber has replaced its founder/CEO Travis Kalanick with Dara Khosrowshahi.
Uber’s board of directors hopes that Dara K can repair the reputation destruction wrought by Travis K. [Next in the chain of succession is Coach K?]
Read this:
That is a hard task. How do you rebuild a reputation which is in tatters? Tatters flavored by lawsuits? Class action lawsuits.
According to the New York Times, Robert Swan Mueller III wants to pose the following questions to President Donald J Trump.
Before we go there, do you think these questions are the real thing?
If so, who leaked them? Why?
Snap is smarting today – smarting meaning it has lost almost $1,000,000 in market cap – because it ran an awkward ad which asked one “Would You Rather”:
A. Slap Rihanna; or,
B. Punch Chris Brown?
The violent choices are a pathetic attempt at humor, if one can find humor in a horrific, domestic violent incident from 2009 in which Chris Brown assaulted Rihanna. Not funny, sayeth the Big Red Car even if they were named Jones and Smith. Not funny.
Brown was charged with felony assault. “I’m going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!” he said during the melee.
You can read a description of the 2009 incident here: Chris Brown Punches and Chokes Rhinna
Teacher handgun training, Big Red Car?
Big Red Car here on a gloomy, sticky 72F and gray day in the ATX. The tragedy of Parkland is still with us and making us contemplate good and bad ideas in the heat of the moment. Never a good idea to make decisions in the heat of the moment, but that is where we are.
Big question to consider. Should we arm teachers?

Big Red Car here with some interesting facts on marijuana — legal in Colorado. Colorado now has five years of experience with the legalization and commercialization of marijuana.
Colorado did not just “de-criminalize” the possession of marijuana; it provided an opportunity for the commercialization of marijuana in the form of growers, distributors, and retailers.
There is a difference between de-criminalizing and commercialization, but what do the results tell us five year in?
Big Red Car here after a trip to Savannah to worship the new My Perfect Granddaughter. Today, we speak of LL Bean, but first a picture:
So, today, dear reader, we speak of how people can ruin things, specifically, the former unconditional satisfaction guarantee from LL Bean.
Today, we talk black unemployment and who gets the credit for its current lower level?
Big Red Car here on a lovely bright Austin By God Texas day. The kind of day that makes you want to move to Austin, but, then, I live here, don’t I?
So, we are hearing a lot about black unemployment and how it has plunged. President Donald J Trump has mentioned it a few times.
Some folks have attributed the current status — 6.8% in Dec 2017 v a high of 16.5% in April 2011 — to President Obama. Still, way too high when national unemployment is 4.1% from a high of 10% in October 2009.
[Please note that President Obama, himself, is a currently an unemployed black man, no?]
It is clearly true that President Trump has continued the downward trend, some say he has accelerated it. However, the trend was already headed in that direction before he arrived in office.
Thanks, Obama.
But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car. Thanks, Obama.
