Big Red Car here. Sad day today, Ed Koch — former Mayor of New York City — has died at 88 years old.
The Boss speaks highly of Ed Koch. Hizzoner was an original among a big band of NYC originals.
He will be remembered for many things but especially for having saved New York City from financial ruin.

Here he is on the occasion of a meeting to save Grand Central Station. On his right is Bess Myerson former Miss America.
Here’s Mayor Koch with another of America’s favorites. Handsome couple of fellows, no?

Rest in peace, Your Honor. A good and faithful servant who ran a great race, lived a wonderful life and who said what he meant and meant what he said.
But, hey, what the Hell do I know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.
He was a NY legend and an American hero.
BRC/JLM — Koch and RR were a breed apart. We need more straight shooters like them. (And Danny Inouye who will be missed as well.)
.
Right. On. The. Money.
Well played. We miss them for the kind of men they were. Straight shooters.

Might have disagreed with Daniel Inouye’s politics. But he was an American hero and left this legacy: http://www.nationalww2museum.org. He and Senator Ted Stevens got it nationally designated, and got some funding for it. Now it’s time for the private sector to kick in.
