The Essential Nature of Good Graphic Design — SketchDeck

Big Red Car here. Going to be another great day in the ATX. The temperatures are starting to creep up.

The Boss was visiting with one of his London clients and they were discussing the essential nature of good graphic design.

Look at SketchDeck. <<<hyperlink

The Boss is always touting websites like Warby Parker, Harrys, Suits, Rent the Runway, Bustle (full disclosure, My Perfect Daughter is Bustle creative) as examples of websites which are simple, elegant and have clean design.

They are pleasing to the eye and therefore attract and retain your attention.

The Boss likes to say they are “refreshing.”

What they are are well designed from a graphic design perspective. They did not get there by accident.

The challenge is always that it takes a certain size operation and a certain level of funding to be able to fund a graphic designer on your staff. When this is done and done correctly the website and the company develop a package of graphic standards which serve as a unifying theme and project a consistent image and brand.

Sometimes, there is bad graphic design and the unifying theme is universally bad as to image and brand. Like practicing a really bad golf swing.

For pitch decks and other presentations there is a very good way to engage a part time or fractional graphic designer — SketchDeck. Take a look at http://sketchdeck.com/.

This is a very cost effective way to streamline and improve your presentations while not breaking the bank.

The Boss has no connection with SketchDeck. Good graphic design!

But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.
