Big Red Car here. It’s going to be another nice day in the ATX. Going to be 72F — remember to wear a dab of sunscreen on your daily outing.
Folks in NYC and Boston don’t realize we’ve got our own problems but then we do have sunscreen. The only thing you can really count on in life — sunscreen.
So The Boss is talking to a couple of up and coming entrepreneurs. They get talking about Vision, Mission, Strategy, Tactics, Objectives, Values and Culture. [Boring, Boss, boring! Get a new shtick. Haha, don’t tell The Boss.]
So The Boss tells the entrepreneurs to think of their approach to planning as if they were writing or telling a story — an entrepreneurial story. Entrepreneurial storytelling!
Decide on the ending first, then walk the cat backwards to the beginning. Weave in the product and think of the alpha, beta and launch tests as drafts and revisions of the story.
Entrepreneurs are story tellers. They are story creators. Some entrepreneurs are so right brained they can focus in an orderly manner on the specifics on a linear basis. Others are left brain types and need some other frame of reference to organize their efforts — try entrepreneurial storytelling.
Whatever you do, the story will be written by you, the plot will be your brainchild and the ending will be yours.
See you at the pay window. This is where all great stories end. Entrepreneurial storytelling.
But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car. Be kind to yourself. You’re way too tough on yourself.
