Prior to Election Day, it was touted by all to be a close election and the pundits said it would not be decided for days.
That turned out to be a load of crap.
In fact,
1. It was not very close — Kamala Harris did not perform as well as Joe Biden by a wide margin and there was not a single county wherein Kamala equalled Biden’s performance; and,
2. It was decided before midnight though Arizona (called recently for Trump, but still counting Senate votes) has continued the charade. I think it is time to make Arizona a colony of Florida, maybe?
Was it a big win, Big Red Car?
Yes, dear reader, it was a big win.
1. Donald J Trump won the Presidency and will move into government subsidized housing again at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
2. In addition, President-elect Trump won the popular vote, something not done by a Republican for more than 20 years.
3. Donald Trump took every battleground state. All seven of them. Last minute polls had Trump winning only two of them, but he took all of them handily.
4. Donald Trump broke the vaunted Dem Blue Wall something nobody thought he could do.
5. The Republicans will control the Senate.
6. The Republicans will control the House of Representatives.
That’s a big win.
There are some subtle and not so subtle implications, Big Red Car, no?
Yes, indeed, dear reader.
1. For the next two years — until the mid-term Congressional elections — the Trump White House and the Republican Senate and House will have the opportunity to pass legislation, overarching legislation, with an assurance of passage. It will require cooperationg amongst all parties and a workable replacement for Mitch McConnell — hopefully Senator Rick Scott of Florida.
Cloture in the Senate will be the only issue.
Taxes, immigration, the economy, national defense, and foreign affairs are all on the table and could be considered quickly.
2. President Trump should have no problem having his Cabinet confirmed handily.
3. Trump nominated Judges will have no real opposition in the Senate.
4. A great number of regulations will be streamlined and the regulatory burden imposed by the prior admin will be stripped clean in highly regulated industries.
5. Federal commissions will shift from Dem controlled to Republican controlled, again relieving the regulatory burden on such things as mergers and acquisitions and energy.
There will be huge implications.
Executive Orders will flow
Because of the Senate and House support, the Trump White House will right its ship of former Executive Orders cancelled by the Biden admin and will issue a number of quick XOs in support of campaign promises. A good many of Trump’s campaign promises will require legislative action, so that will take time.
The first week will be like two Super Bowls per day.
Trump knows his way around the White House so he will get off to a quick start. It will be a homecoming.
Bottom line it, Big Red Car
It was a huge win. Trump outperformed even his most ardent supporters’ expectations. Far outperformed my personal expectations.
Trump vanquished his opponent, the elites, the Never Trumpers, the GOPe, the pundits, the media, the pollsters, and the haters.
The Margin of Victory exceeded the Margin of Cheat. [I don’t think there was much cheating, but there was some. Look at some of those Senate races in which you are lead to believe voters voted for Senate candidates and neither Presidential candidate. I will do some more work on that, but it is quite implausible.]
In two-and-a-half months, it will be Trump 2.0. Hand on because it’s going to be a rocketship.
