I like to follow the political events in Washington DC. As a macochist, I’ve also read the Department of Justice Inspector General’s 1,000,000 page report on the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978) investigation.
I watched the testimony of the Department of Justice’s Inspector General Horowitz. Glutton. For. Punishment.
In case you have been out of the country, a gentleman named Carter Page was the subject of four FISA warrants. A FISA warrant is the product of a secret process wherein the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation apply for the right to investigate an individual when that individual is either a foreign agent or under the influence of a foreign power. You cannot investigate an American citizen unless and only if that person is a foreign agent or under the control of a foreign power.
In this instance, the actual FISA warrant applications said that Carter Page was a Russian agent.
Carter Page is a distinguished Naval Academy graduate — graduated at the top 10% of his class, Trident Scholar — who served honorably as a Navy officer. Page has a Masters in National Security Studies from Georgetown, an MBA from New York University, and a Doctorate from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
He worked for Merrill Lynch in London and Moscow, ultimately becoming the Chief Operating Officer for Merrill Lynch’s energy and power department in New York City.
He left Merrill Lynch in 2008 and founded his own investment fund which overlapped with his doctoral studies.
During the time period 2008 to 2013 Carter Page assisted the CIA as a CHS (confidential human source) wherein his testimony, his efforts ended with Russian bad actors being intercepted and incarcerated.
HE WORKED FOR THE CIA AS A CONFIDENTIAL HUMAN SOURCE FOR FIVE YEARS.
Thereafter, Carter Page volunteered to be a foreign policy adviser to Candidate for President Donald J Trump. That happened on 21 March 2016.
In September 2016, Yahoo News reported that Carter Page was being investigated for contact with Russian officials — in particular Igor Sechin, the President of the Russian State Run energy conglomerate Rosneft. We now know that the author of that article used the Steel Dossier as his source document. All indications are he received that document from a leaker — FBI maybe?
It would turn out that Carter Page and Igor Sechin never met, didn’t know each other. This would be in the Mueller Report.
The yahoo News story made wild allegations that we now know, again, were sourced from the Steel Dossier — an oppo research document paid for by the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The Yahoo News story and the Dossier both alleged that Carter Page had met with Igor Sechin, who had offered him a multi-billion dollar commission if he could somehow convince President Trump to provide sanctinos relief should he become President.
Two big facts: multi-billion dollar commission, and long before anybody really thought Candidate Trump would ever become President Trump. Come on, man.
Carter Page left the Trump Campaign volunteer advisory position at that time without ever having met Donald Trump during his six month, one meeting tenure.
In January 2017, the FBI under James Comey alleged in a secret FISA warrant application that Carter Page was an agent of Russia or under the control of Russia. This is the standard that must be met to obtain a FISA warrant against an American citizen.
In a background check to support the FISA warrant application, the CIA told the FBI — who was preparing the FISA warrant application — that Carter Page had been their CHS for five years. They spoke well of him.
An FBI agent changed that email to say that Carter Page had NOT been a CHS.
Read that one more time — an FBI lawyer working on the FISA app took an email from the CIA that verified Carter Page’s patriotic support of the CIA’s efforts for five years and changed it. This agent has been referred for criminal prosecution.
Take a deep breath, let it out. Why? Why did this FBI agent make this change? Because if he hadn’t they would never have gotten the FISA warrant approved and they would not have been able to investigate the Trump campaign through this entry portal.
Comey, et al, received their FISA warrant and went to work combing through Carter Page’s emails, phone calls, bank records, and other documents. The FBI could investigate Carter Page and “two hops.”
The Two Hop Rule means the FBI could get Page’s stuff, Page’s direct contacts’ stuff, and the direct contacts of the direct contacts’ stuff. That gets you to Donald J Trump, my friends.
Through the Carter Page entry portal, the FBI could now investigate the entire Trump campaign. Everybody. Every phone call. Every email. Every text. Everything. Everybody.
This is the weaponization of the FBI by the Obama admin to investigate the candidate of the opposing political party. This is what President Trump has been talking about when he said the Obama administration was tapping his phones. He was right.
The FISA warrant never would have seen the light of day if it had correctly reported that Carter Page had been a CIA asset for five years. If that was known, the FBI would have just approached him directly as a “friendly.” The FISA court would never have believed that Carter Page was a Russian agent.
When asked whether the Dossier was the sole source of information used to obtain the Carter Page FISA warrant, former FBI Director James Comey said to Brett Baier of Fox News in a widely seen interview:
“My recollection was there was a significant amount of additional material about Page and why there was probable cause to believe he was an agent of a foreign power. And the dossier was part of that but was not all of it or a critical part of it.”
The AGENT OF A FOREIGN POWER! Wow!
“The FISA applications “relied entirely on information from” the Steele dossier.”
IG Horowitz also reported the criminal act of the FBI lawyer who forged the document and changed the provision as to Carter Page’s 5-year involvement with the CIA.
Bottom line it, Big Red Car
I care not a whit about the larger issue — whether the Trump campaign was spied on by our government. You can go debate that.
I care only about the miscarriage of justice that has been visited upon Carter Page. Our government screwed this man without any regard for the truth. When caught, the Director of the FBI lied and continues to lie. They wrecked this man, considering him acceptable collateral damage.
This is YOUR government. This is the Deep State. This is the truth.
If Carter Page was a Russian spy or under the control of Russia, then I am a Martian.
I hope Carter Page gets his day in court and I hope he sues those involved, the DOJ, the FBI for more than $100,000,000. I hope he wins and gets pre-trial interest plus attorney’s fees.
Know that your government when in the hands of men like James Comey can do this to anyone. You. Anybody.
