Nobody Is Above The Law, Including Judges

Your Big Red Car was idling in the driveway, enjoying the warm Savannah sun, when the hot little Mercedes that stables with me muttered something about a woke judge in Wisconsin getting into some hot water. Naturally, my curiosity was piqued.

Let me paint the picture for you.

So, what’s the setup, Big Red Car? The backstory?

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan found herself in a boiling cauldron of stank recently. She’s been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of obstruction of justice and concealing a person from arrest. Seems serious for a judge in particular.

WTF did I do? I just helped an illegal criminal evade the legal apprehension of ICE? WTF? I’m a bloody judge. I can do anything.

The allegations? That she assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, an undocumented immigrant — haha, an illegal alien — from Mexico, in evading arrest by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

What was her dance step, Big Red Car?

On April 18, 2025, Flores-Ruiz was in court facing misdemeanor domestic abuse charges — wife beater. ICE agents were reportedly waiting right outside the courtroom, Hannah’s courtroom, to detain him.

Prosecutors allege that Judge Dugan directed Flores-Ruiz and his attorney to exit the courthouse through a back door typically reserved for staff and detainees, thereby avoiding the ICE agents stationed at the main entrance.

Despite this attempt, Flores-Ruiz was apprehended outside the courthouse after a brief foot chase.

So then what happened, Big Red Car?

Following the incident, Judge Dugan was arrested and has been temporarily suspended from her duties by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She is expected to enter a formal plea later this week and maintains her innocence.

What’s the big picture, Big Red Car?

Ahhh, dear reader, this case has drawn national attention and intensified debates over immigration enforcement in courthouses and the usual “Are judges above the law?” stuff.

The Trump 2.0 administration has increased ICE’s arrest powers in sensitive areas like courthouses (because that’s where the bloody criminals are, perhaps?), reversing previous limitations.

Critics argue that such actions deter public access to justice and strain state-federal relations.

Bottom line it, Big Red Car, on the way to the dump here shortly

Now, I may just be a Big Red Car, but here’s the thing: judges are not above the law. Their role is to uphold it, not to circumvent it.

Obstructing federal agents, if proven, is a serious offense that undermines the very fabric of our legal system. Plenty of cats in jail serving hard time for doing just this.

But hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.

Be well, amigos.
