The Musings of the Big Red Car

Jesus, Is Just All Right With Me — You?

Big Red Car here. Merry Christmas! It is 50F here in the ATX with a high forecast of 65F, the Big Red Car’s idea of Christmas weather and you?

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, a well known carpenter from Nazareth. It is said He never had to measure twice to cut once as He got it right the first time. If you have ever had any dealings with carpenters, then you can truly appreciate the holiness of this talent.

In the celebration of Christmas it is important to get it right. And, it is easy to get it right.

It is not about gift giving — well, yes it is but not in the way we might think of it. It is not the gifts we give each other but the gift God gave to man — His only Son.

It is about God giving his Son to mankind to atone for our sins through His suffering and to thereby open the gates of Heaven to everyone.

The first act of love was the birth of Jesus in a manger, a very human experience. That is what we celebrate today in our homes and our hearts,

Today take a second to reflect upon the mystery of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ whose journey for our salvation started today 2014 years ago.

It would be great if the wonderful feelings we feel today could somehow last all year. If we could approach the world’s problems with the same feeling of happiness and contentment that Christmas brings to us all. If peace could become the new normal.

We can — each of us just has to make it happen in our little corner of the world. Big Red Car will try to do his part. You?

Merry Christmas, today and every day for the rest of time.

But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.
