It is interesting all of this going on in reality. One my friends from college already moved to Mexico that just recently graduated. I thought this was sad because I thought he gave up at first, but maybe it was his family's plan to become an engineer and then leave? Hard to know that. I will ask him. The thought for me that is most interesting, at least one that I have observed directly with my friends. That some immigrants whether illegal or not are taking what is American, and they are possibly taking it home because the reality of questioning ones true values and where allegiance lies is now coming to the surface in hearts minds of the nation and other nations at the same time.

Don't worry I didn't cry about it... per your thoughts on criers made me laugh though.

.
There is no other country in the world in which people are risking life and limb to break into.

The US market is the biggest and best and we need to start charging admission to everyone.

Agree. Can't imagine how our constitution or any of our protections apply to people who aren't US citizens for that matter.

And you know in the end 'THEY' end every argument that they can't win on facts (or close to facts) with 'and that's not what we are all about as a country or as a people'. As if somehow our brand will be tarnished and the best, brightest and most hard working people in the world will go to Canada instead. As likely as people going to Philly instead of NYC.

Likewise can't understand how the spoiled kids at Yale got their way with the college school name. Give it a rest already.

.
The numbers on deportations get big fast and there will be a lot of self-deportations with folks thinking they should leave and come back when the coast is clear.

We shall see.

The nerve of Pres Trump in enforcing existing law. The nerve of that man!

The rule of law is a thing, again. Bravo!

The country will get a modern, digital method of tracking people in the
US who have overstayed their visas. I say, “Stick a chip in them.” But,
that, of course, is silly. Is it?

That was my idea as well. Or wrap it around their foot. Seems to be an obvious solution to the problem.

As far as Seattle, aren't those Canadians? Are 'they' really schlepping all the way up to Seattle and Boston?

I am not in favor of anything close to blanket amnesty. There are several billion people in the world and probably half of them would love to live here. The ones who got in shouldn't be rewarded. Take the 10 million slots (or whatever there is) and open it up to others more deserving.

I love the nightly news seeing some person being deported whining about how things are shit in their country (which I do believe). While that is unfortunate things are shit probably where 1 billion people live not sure why the people who sneaked in rank the highest.

A guy I went to school with at VMI is a retired USMC Colonel and the head of DHS from El Paso to Brownsville, Texas. I have no first hand info on any of the questions you raise but I am led to believe that ICE, Border Patrol has enough work with identifiable targets to keep them busy for years.

Remember the last administration was turning a blind eye to ALL of this.

One has to believe that DHS, DEA, ICE, and a myriad of other alphabet soup gov't agencies have been developing CIs (confidential informants) for decades and know where many of he illegals are located. Also, there is a huge body of data in the driver's license databases.

Much of the border of Texas is so remote that even if you got across, it is a long, long way to civilization into which an illegal alien would be able to disappear and with infrared sensors, it would be easy to identify a moving person.

In Texas, coming out of the Rio Grande Valley there are checkpoints fifty miles from the border at which the road network creates a natural choke point and Border Patrol works them hard. When I used to go back and forth to the RGV I went through them regularly. They have dogs.

As to sea passage, you are dealing with the Coast Guard and every harbor close to the border has to have a port of entry.

I suspect the biggest issue is really the normal day crossing of the border at the international bridges (like McAllen) where people cross on day passes and keep going.

It is pretty clear there are at least 1-1.5MM known criminals who can be deported pretty quickly. There are 20 cities in the US which have almost all the criminals and 70-80% of all illegals.

I do think there are going to be big taxes imposed on anybody coming into the US.

How do the raids work? They have information on large amounts of people living in specific buildings? I wonder how long it will take them to get back without a fence up? And for the dumbest question of them all, once the fence is up, will it have sensors to detect tunnel digging? One more dumb question.... What about sailboats, is it that hard to sail right in here, even with a load of drugs in it as well?

If none of these matter, then what? Taxes on legal immigrants?

Once we get things sorted out, the ability to access labor -- particularly for the border states -- will be very easy to figure out. First, we have to get the scumbags out.

Both legal and illegal immigration are broken.

Let's be honest here -- the Dems have always seen the illegals as future Dem voters. That's what Obama was up to all the time.

The absurdity of the Constitutional applications to persons who are neither US citizens nor in the country is a complete mystery.

"what's wrong"?

A lot of US, anxiety-ridden, sophomore snowflakes want to feel secure and believe that the only feasible approach is to have everyone in the world feel secure so that they can feel secure as a special case.

A big idea about security totally escapes them? One of the main pillars of security in the US is the US Constitution. Well, that doesn't apply to aliens outside the US. But, of course, as part of making the world safe for everyone, the snowflakes want the US Constitution to apply to everyone in the world, e.g., maybe be adopted by the UN and the UN to become world government with everyone secure.

Getting the promises of the US Constitution to hold in the US has been difficult enough, and the snowflakes need to appreciate that fact.
