Big Red Car here. Well, the Republican debate is over and I can go back to my normal life.
So The Boss is taking for a new fuel pump today!
We were talking about the high points of being a CEO coach.
He said there are some real high points that are very gratifying. Gratification is a good thing, I think.
1. He told me of a brilliant CEO of his who evolved his thinking to look at his business as a platform rather than just a website. Doubled his business in less than a year and a half.
2. Another CEO went through the Vision, Mission, Strategy, Tactics, Objectives, Values, Culture, business engine canvas, business process graphic, and dollar weighted org chart exercise. Had an offsite meeting to align the efforts of his team. Started sleeping better.
A year later, he has doubled his actual revenue and has re-set his three year Vision from $10,000,000 to $15,000,000 to, now, $30,000,000.
All of this upward pressure has come from the reality of how well his business is doing.
3. Another CEO turned over the helm of his company to a new CEO and took a different personal direction which made him infinitely happier.
The CEO coaching business is sometimes an exercise in putting out fires but sometime, SOMETIMES, it is extremely gratifying watching a brilliant CEO crush it and build a great business and that makes it all worth it.
Gratification — it’s what you get when you do the work.
But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car.
.
Being a CEO coach can feel, sometimes, like running a non-profit emergency room.
But, sometimes, it can also be incredibly gratifying watching a brilliant CEO crush it.
