Troy H Middleton, Citizen Soldier

Big Red Car here.  Well, you know what I’m going to say — right?  On Earth as it is in Austin, Texas, ya’ll, cause it’s just about perfect here in the ATX.

So The Boss is finishing up reading about his tenth book on the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.  He gets fixated on something in his reading — last time it was the masonry design of Irish castles, haha — and he just reads and studies it in depth and extracts the learnings like he was squeezing an orange to make orangeade.

You do love orangeade, right?  Bit of simple syrup, bit of peel, bit of something fizzy and fresh squeezed oranges.  Fresh, Old Sport, fresh.

The Pursuit of Happiness and the American Dream

Big Red Car here.  Well, The Boss got skunked on the tarpon in Key Largo.  [Kind of like to see The Boss get his butt knocked in the dirt from time to time.  Good for him to learn a bit of humility, haha.  Watch yourself, Big Red Car.]

Final score — The Boss 0, Tarpon 7.

Sequestration, Entitlement Reform, Debt Ceiling and Other Fables

Big Red Car here.  Another beautiful Wednesday in the ATX.  We’ll be topping 100F today but, hey, it’s July remember?  [Haha, Big Red Car, the folks do not need to be reminded it’s July in Texas.  They can feel it.]  The real world is a very nice world and a substantial number of folks like you actually live in the real world.

Speaking of the real world, The Boss was chatting with a pal who reminded him of the threats and promises of sequestration and entitlement reform and the impending debt ceiling. Continue reading

Knaves and Treachery

Big Red Car here.  Well, The Boss is back from Santa Fe and the oppressive heat of July is here to stay.  Haha, Big Red Car, stop feeling sorry for yourself, you’re in the ATX and that’s all good.

So The Boss was comforting one of his CEO pals who was feeling a bit blue having been the victim of a bit of chicanery and treachery made perhaps all the worst because it emanated from one of his former star mentees.  Oh, such is life.  You will meet your knaves and treachery in life and business.  Recognize them.
