A Gig, a Product, a Job, a Career, a Profession (The Leadership Series)

The Boss is still up skiing in Steamboat.  Snow is still pouring down and I am starting to feel just a bit sorry for myself.  I have been cooped up all week since Sunday and am getting a bit anxious.

I want to get out and run.  My job, my work, is to lower the top and run like Hell.  Through the neighborhood — never, ever violating the speed limit mind you — and when The Boss is feeling a bit wild through the Hill Country and out to the lake and back again.  I have a great job.  I am in the pleasure business.  Come ride with me.

So The Boss is up skiing in Steamboat Springs in Colorado.  I wonder what is going to happen with Colorado and the legalization of marijuana.  I don’t see The Boss smoking any weed, but who knows.  Away from home and all, eh?

So the other day The Boss and I head out to Georgetown, Texas to shoot a few “touch n goes” to keep the flying skills sharp.  I listened to him and a buddy talk about flying and business and how they are related.

Startup Entrepreneurs, Safeguard Your Valuables

The Boss was up early this morning meeting with a young entrepreneur who was in the midst of a startup.  They got to talking about how difficult it was to raise money and to get his idea to market.  Nice young guy full of piss and vinegar.  Going to be a big success.

Innovation — how it is supposed to work

So The Boss is out having a coffee.  Early riser likes to have a coffee for a meeting early in the morning because when the coffee is over he can scoot if he wants.

So I hear him talking about this article in The Atlantic.  Read this article.  The author, Kathryn Hawkins, wrote a great article.  She writes some great stuff about innovation in the United States.  Very interesting stuff on a number of different levels.
