A Word About Mothers on Mother’s Day

Today we honor mothers of all varieties, but they have in common one thing — they prepare their babies for the rigors of life.

In this effort we have a unique perspective — the mother prepares her  baby to be independent and to survive without her.

This is not to say that mothers no longer have a role in the lives of this now independent child who may have children and then mom plays the critical role of grandparent and baby sitter of first resort.

Honor Mom not just because she bore you and nurtured you, but because she threw you out of the nest and made you fend for yourself.

Well played, Mom.
