I stumbled on an interesting study recently. It goes like this —
- Objective: survey self-identified Democrats/Republicans as well as men/women as to behavior they would or would not engage in based on their Presidential candidate preference.
- Sample size 850
- Date 18-22 November 2021
- Sample — college kids nationwide <<< 2/4-year community colleges, technical colleges, trade schools, public/private 4-year colleges
- Margin of error – +/- 3.4%
College students who would not “go out on a date with” someone who voted for the opposing Presidential candidate?
Democrats – 71%
Republicans – 31%
Women – 59%
Men – 33%
College students who would not “shop at or support a business of” someone who voted for the opposing Presidential candidate?
Democrats – 41%
Republicans – 7%
Women – 32%
Men – 16%
College students who would not “be friends with” someone who voted for the opposing Presidential candidate?
Democrats – 37%
Republicans – 5%
College students who would not “work for” someone who voted for the opposing Presidential candidate?
Democrats – 30%
Republicans – 7%
Women – 24%
Men – 14%
College is where young persons go to educate themselves, to learn to socialize, to take a deep taste of living, and where they develop their personal attitudes toward life.
Colleges are decried as liberal cesspools, but also where one becomes tolerant.
Are they?
Bottom line it, Big Red Car
Fine, dear reader, here it is:
1. Democrats are far more likely to bring Presidential politics into their personal life at the tender age of 18-22.
2. 71% of Democrats would not date a person who voted for the other party’s Presidential candidate. Huh?
Dems would only date Dems? Inbreeding?
3. Women are far more politically wary (partisan) than men.
Worth noting that women are 60% of college students compared to men at 40%. This has reversed over the last 40 years.
4. Where does partisanship in college spawn? Democrat women.
But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a Big Red Car. Great week ahead.
